Sunday School
Sunday School runs during school terms as part of the 10am Sunday service. It supports the spiritual growth of the tamariki and mokopuna of St Andrew’s. Activities and discussion are based on the Bible, or on special events in the church like baptism or Easter. Sunday School is run by a small group of volunteers and aims to lead to young people being confident to take full part in congregation life and in their own life with God.
The Selwyn Centre
The Selwyn Centre is a weekly get together for over 65’s. It is hosted by St Andrew’s Church. Drop in for a cup of tea and a delicious morning tea while having a chat with friends. Participate in some gentle exercise designed for people over 65 years of age. Have fun taking part in a range of interesting activities, crafts and games. Socialise with other people and make new friends. Enjoy being part of a supportive and caring group of like-minded folk. We meet on Monday at 10:00am to midday with a small charge of $4.00. We meet in the Parish Centre adjacent to the office. For more information please phone the office or pop in to pick up a pamphlet. You are most welcome to join us. We would love to meet you!
Men’s Monthly Dinner
The Men’s Monthly dinner is an informal gathering of men from the parish and friends for a chat and fellowship, and an enjoyable dinner of fish and chips (plus salads to give the impression that we are eating healthily). This is always accompanied by a speaker on interesting, local topics. We meet the third Thursday evening of the month from 6pm, February to November.
Next meeting: 6pm, Thursday 20 November, Parish Centre Quiz Night. $20 – correct change please – includes dinner and drinks. For catering purposes please record your name on the clipboard in the church porch or phone the Office – 07 8276751 by Sunday 16 November 2025
Evening Women’s Fellowship
The St Andrew’s Evening Women’s Fellowship group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre.
Our purpose is to enable women from our parish to gather together, socialise and enjoy various activities. Our evening starts with a short and informal business meeting, then we often have a speaker or activity of some kind, finishing with tea and coffee.
There is no membership fee, just a small koha if attending a meeting.
We hold several events throughout the year to fund raise for local charities and we also have coffee mornings on a monthly basis at local cafes.

At a recent meeting one of our group, Lynne, gave us an informative, lively and entertaining talk about her recent visit to London for the Coronation. Much enjoyed by all.
Bell ringers
As I for use am raised above the Earth
So let my voice to heavenly thoughts give birth.
If folk who hear me come to praise their King
I am content for not in vain I ring.
The six bells of St Andrew’s Anglican church, Cambridge have rung since 1844 for normal services of worship and celebration, as well as weddings and other events on request. Some may wonder how the sound is produced and think it is a recording or perhaps somebody is playing it from a keyboard. At St Andrew’s, each bell is rung separately by members of a team working under the direction of a caller, in what is described as swing-change-chiming. We are a team of enthusiasts and St Andrews is thought to have the only set of steel, swing-change-chimed bells in the Southern Hemisphere.
Male and female, young and old. You do not to be particularly talented musically to be a ringer. You need focus and readiness to learn new techniques and be willing to take direction.
If you think you would like to explore this ministry at St Andrews, please contact the office to organise a practice session visit.
A world of happy harmony dwells
within the music of the bells
Venite Choir
Venite Choir sings sacred and spiritual music, at St Andrew’s on the first Sunday of the month, and on special occasions, and also at community events. Venite sings at funerals on request, and gives the occasional concert and birthday surprise.
New singers are welcome to join at any point of the year. Experienced and novice singers will find a stimulating range of music, and a supportive and friendly group of people alongside them. Music may include hymns for church services, anthems both traditional and contemporary, spirituals, world music in several languages, rounds, and three and four part harmony.

Venite Choir is part of the Royal Schools of Church Music, and joins with other choirs around the region for large choral services, at other churches. Venite is also part of NZ Choral Federation.
Venite Choir practices are currently on Monday evenings from 7.00-8.30 pm, in St Andrew’s Parish Centre.
